Launched by the Dairy Council of California, Meals
Matter is an online resource offering unbiased, easy-to-use nutrition
education tools that promote optimal health and healthy food choices.
Tommy Dew Design and Cylogy, Inc. teamed on a comprehensive redesign and restructuring
of the website in July 2003, focusing on the development of a completely
personalized online experience for the Meals Matter audience.
Working closely with DCC, the team brainstormed and developed enhanced
personalization tools with an eye toward future growth, moving the website
into a Microsoft .NET framework. We repurposed and augmented existing
tools that previously used outdated technology, establishing an infrastructure
to support future growth.
Website features: "My Personal Start Page" greets members with their "Family
Food Profile," personalized news, tips, and recipes; members search, submit
and store recipes with personal notes in their own "Cookbook"; members
create and update a personal "Meal Planner," "Shopping List" and "Pantry";
a "Weekly Poll" and "Nutrition Notes" are randomly pulled from the database
for display on the home page; a custom Content Management System and Bulk
Email Tool allows DCC staff to update site content and send email blasts.
